Rotork assists BAE Systems in naval base actuator upgrades

Rotork has been working with BAE Systems to upgrade a series of A-range actuators to IQ3 actuators which operate penstocks controlling motion of ships between the ocean and transitional locks and dry docks at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth (HMNB Portsmouth).
A sequence of A-range actuators had reached the tip of their operational life after long service in a difficult surroundings. เกจวัดแก๊สlpg wished to retain all the benefits of electrical actuators, so IQ3 actuators were chosen. These needed to be specifically adapted by Rotork to beat problems round confined areas and difficult access.
IQ3 actuators and IS gearboxes have been mechanically tailored so that both actuator and gearbox could presumably be manually operated without coming into the confined house. Rotork designed special hand auto levers and through drive mechanisms for the actuator and gearbox to remove the need for confined space access.
Actuators inside the IQ range are watertight, offering ingress safety to IP66/68 at 20 m for 10 days. They have a complicated twin stacked show with configurable information logger performance, and an absolute place sensor supplies reliability and accuracy.
